July 17 to Aug. 24th: Perseids Meteor Shower

Originating from the constellation Perseus, this years summer astrological event peaks on the nights of Aug. 11-12 and Aug. 12-13. This is an normal year which means they will appear at at a max rate of about 60-70 per hour. Joseph, with its low light pollution and accessible parks, wilderness and open prairie is an ideal place for viewing.

August 16-19th: Wallowa County Thunder Run

The Thunder Run is held at the Joseph Rodeo Grounds in Joseph, Oregon. Joseph is well known for its full size bronzes on each Main Street corner in addition to its variety of eateries and shops.

Live bands, Biker Games, Food and Drinks, Show and Shine, Raffles, and a variety of Vendors are just a part of the fun at the Wallowa County Thunder Run. Activities throughout the county include a Guided Ride and Poker Run.

August 25-26th: Dragons in the Wallowas

September 7-9th: Hells Canyon Mule Days

Hells Canyon Mule Days is a three day fun family show with events and classes for every age and skill level. The event includes non-motorized parade, quilt show, exhibits and western art, cowboy poets gathering, mule and horse sales and pit BBQ.

September 13th - 16th: Wallowa Valley Festival of Arts

January 17-20: Eagle Cap Extreme Sled Dog Race

Join us for some four-legged fun at the Annual Eagle Cap Extreme. Meet the Mushers and their doggie Superstars the day before (Wednesday) at the Vet Checks in Joseph and Enterprise. Come to the race start and witness the the energy as these dogs do what they love: RUN! We run 22, 62, 100 and 200 mile races. Our 200 mile race is Oregon's only Iditarod and Yukon Quest Qualifier. The start and finish for both races is at Ferguson Ridge Ski area just a few miles outside of Joseph. Afterwards there is an Awards Banquet open to the public.
