July 17 to Aug. 24th: Perseids Meteor Shower

Originating from the constellation Perseus, this years summer astrological event peaks on the nights of Aug. 12-13th. This is a normal year which means they will appear at at a max rate of about 60 per hour. This year, only a quarter Moon will obscure the peak. Joseph, with its low light pollution and accessible parks, wilderness and open prairie is an ideal place for viewing.

July 17-19th: Nez Perce Tamkaliks Celebration

The Annual Tamkaliks Celebration (formerly Wallowa Band Descendants Friendship Feast & Pow Wow) is a celebration and recognition of the continuing Nez Perce presence in the Wallowa Valley. January 22-25th: Eagle Cap Extreme Sled Dog Race

Join us for some four-legged fun at the Annual Eagle Cap Extreme. Meet the Mushers and their doggie Superstars the day before (Wednesday) at the Vet Checks in Joseph and Enterprise. Come to the race start and witness the the energy as these dogs do what they love: RUN! We run 22, 62, 100 and 200 mile races. Our 200 mile race is Oregon's only Iditarod and Yukon Quest Qualifier. The start and finish for both races is at Ferguson Ridge Ski area just a few miles outside of Joseph. Afterwards there is an Awards Banquet open to the public.
