Goat Meadows - Hurricane Creek

About a mile up the Hurricane Creek Trail are two meadows that locals refer to as 'Goat Meadows,' -named for the presence of the animals that are often seen on the slopes of the Hurricane Divide.

This panorama doesn't due justice to a place that is of such scale and beauty that to shrink it ruins the very nature that makes it so awesome. Go see it, you'll be glad you did!

Don't forget to bring your binoculars or scope: The Mountain Goats are often hard to spot as they blend in well with the light grey granite that marks the slopes.

Note: There is a water crossing almost immediately up the trail- a double fallen tree (one low to walk on, one high to hold on) that is pretty easy to negotiate. This stream can dry to a trickle by late summer.
