In January of 2020, the Wallowa Land Trust spearheaded the successful campaign to preserve this magnificent landmark. You can now visit this exceptional view and experience it for yourself!
From Wallowa Lake head north towards Joseph about 1.4 miles to a small parking area on the right and go under/around the green gate and up the dirt road. A very nice hike (not too steep) through the woods to the top of the Moraine.
This incredible view will always be impossible to sufficiently capture because of the enormity of scale and the overwhelming emotion that a live experience evokes.
This is the number one 'WOW' of the Wallowas.
